Gateway Connectivity Installation Wizard

Gateway Connectivity Installation Wizard

Gateway Connectivity Installation Wizard

Using the steps included in this topic, IDC Technicians will be equipped to deploy an Advanced Gateway for a Site with a connected generator from a variety of manufacturers. These installations typically will be integrated into the power management infrastructure at large, industrial  sites. This topic assumes an installation for a single cloud tenant instance.

An intuitive wizard will guide the installer-technician to create a site on the platform and configure the equipment according to equipment specifications. Parameters include site location (postal address, verifiable with geo-coordinates), generator asset model information, hardware serial numbers, power specifications, and a gateway ID.

Once the user does a quick walk through and enters values for the required fields, generator(s) status can be verified within the user interface. Telemetry data can then be monitored on an ongoing basis so that onsite technicians and resources are equipped to monitor and manage equipment associated with an industrial backup solution.

Before Getting Started

To complete this Advanced Gateway installation, be sure to verify all connections. We recommend referring to the Help Center in the left navigation of the Industrial Solution Site Map for specific equipment information and other knowledge base material.

Type a key word in the search box to obtain equipment-specific information for your hardware installation.

Configuring and Deploying a Site

From the User Profile menu, select the Site Deployment menu option aside the Industrial Solutions Site Map. The Installation Wizard will launch, enabling you to build a Site on the platform.

Have your hardware specification sheet ready as you will need to provide information on the rated power, amperage, voltage, and model information.
Upon launch, a message will prompt you to confirm that the device is connected. Please verify power, status, modem connectivity, and signal strength. Indicator lights are defined in the modal message.

Site Name and Equipment

In Step 1 of the Installation Wizard, create a generator equipment profile, describing the physical location of the associated hardware. When choosing a Site Name, be sure the entry is unique. Proceed to enter the other Site details. Some fields have been pre-populated with data for convenience.  If necessary to replace these values, simply type into the field to update from defaults. All fields are required aside from the 2nd address line.

In the second column of the asset profile page, complete the generator specification fields.
  1. Enter a descriptive name in the Generator Name field to facilitate easy reference for maintenance and monitoring.
  2. Be sure to list the manufacturer. This field will be empty when you first provide this information.
  3. The Controller field is selectable using the drop-down menu.
  1. Model and serial numbers are found on the equipment.
  2. Enter rated power (in kW) and amperage by typing into the respective fields. These should correspond with the generator’s specification sheet.
  3. Use the radio toggles to select the Output Voltage Type.
  4. Enter the Output Voltage listed with the hardware specifications. Common presets are available once clicking into the field.
  5. Be sure to complete the fuel type entry using the pop-up menu when clicking into the box.
  6. A Gateway Serial number, entered at screen right (not the equivalent of the generator serial number) is located on the gateway device (or included with the product documentation) and can be referenced using the Site tools after configuration.

To proceed to Step 2 of the wizard, all fields must be entered. When you have completed the Site and equipment details, the Next button will be enabled as provided in the next capture.

Address Verification

The wizard provides the user with the option to accept a USPS standard, which includes a Zip code extension. Latitude and Longitude will populate the location automatically once a street address is accepted by the platform.

In Step 2 of the Installation Wizard, be sure to click the
Save & Download button to enable communications with the Advanced Gateway.

A secondary modal prompt the user for confirmation.

A validation screen appears next, confirming location details as configured by the installer. Sufficient signal strength will be indicated with at least two bars.

Click Done in Step 3 to return to the Platform Solution Site Map.

Making Site Changes
Before saving, you can modify details by navigating in reverse order in the wizard. Once saved, most equipment details are not changeable without a Support ticket.

Site Maintenance

To view generator live data, click the site pin from the Industrial Platform Solution Site Map. The application will display a live stream of generator status and data values. Data includes Amps, RPMs, voltage, hours of generator on time, as well as power.

Power and other usage data are a click away via the Trend tab. Power usage across a time series for defined time and date ranges are available to optimize generator usage and site power management. Ranges are customizable.

Journal

Once connected, check the Journal tab from the Live Stream to view available documentation. Comments and captures can be appended to the asset journal.

Reports Tab

Equipment run reports are automated and will be catalogued here.

Alarm Tab

Click the Alarm tab to view status for pre-configured equipment and parameters (such as oil pressure, fuse failure, temperature, system alarms and so on). These are setup at the time of installation. An automated alarm history will populate this tab.
